Definitely agree with these points. It’s not that AirBnB-like services didn’t exist in the early days of the Web, they just weren’t broadly popular.

Great point about the technology being important, too. These “Why Now?” shifts definitely aren’t all limited to one type of shift. It’s often a combination of more than one.
